Toe Caps are so Hot Right now

Everywhere I turn this season I keep seeing adorable cap toed shoes. Heels, flats it doesn't matter, they are both joining the ranks of colored and metal capped toes. I loved them so much I even took a crack at them myself with this DIY project. If you haven't grabbed a pair for spring, do it.

I picked up these gorgeous rose gold suede ballerina flats at Zara in Chicago this weekend.

Also at Zara are these yellow metal capped heels.

And love these colorful caps I found on Pinterest.

Dry Bar

If you are ever in need of a fun, girly day with friends, I have discovered the perfect option. Cheaper than a spa day and better than a mani/pedi. Insert, Dry Bar, a salon that specializes in only blow out hair treatments and chic as can be (blow dryers as lights). A friend and I went in Saturday morning up in NYC and left feeling effortless cool with our perfect do blowing in the balmy March breeze (?!), amazing.

There's cucumber water, champagne and cookies, piles of mags and movies playing. Next time you need a fun change of pace, I highly recommend this mini splurge. Would I steer you wrong?

Hot Tips

I know I've been absent of a little while!  I've been keeping busy getting up to speed on my new job (I love it!).

While I've been gone I have been noticing all the toe capped shoes out there. I'm digging them. Then I saw a DIY inspired post on a pair and a spare and I had to give the a try. They were pretty easy and I debuted them this past weekend on a NYC trip.

Supplies:
1 tube of white acrylic paint
1 tube of neon yellow acrylic paint
Masking tape
Paint brush
Black pumps

I did two layers of white paint as a base to make the color pop. The rest was easy. I'm thinking about getting a nude shoe and giving them pink or electric blue tips.

Slacking

All this warm weather is making me excited for spring. I'm thinking about cleaning out the closet next weekend to make some room for new additions. Loving the below inspirations.

I love this leather jacket and how it adds a little bit of edge to an otherwise sweet dress.

Loving this stripped skirt.

I'm defintely feeling green this year.

How chic are these coral jeans!?

Neon is everywhere this spring.

Loeffler Randall Sandals

...in these suede fringe anklets. I might have to try these as a DIY just because they look awesome. Created by A Pair & a Spare and how to details on Harper's Bazaar.

Super What

Shocker, I'm not watching the super bowl right now. Instead I've decided to share a few things I'm loving lately, in no particular order whatsoever. Hope you're having a great close to your weekend :)

This henna looks awesome. Makes me want to plan a trip to India.

Sitting on a couch at the beach. I wanna be there.

Heart matchsticks. Could they be any cuter?

This look rocks.

This color screams "Winter is (almost) Over" and I love that.

Still digging the fishbraid, and Miranda Kerr is always stunning.

Color block curtains. Adorable.

Naked 2

It's always good to do a little spring cleaning in the ol' makeup bag. It's no good to pull out some funky mascara wand or crumbled-to-pieces eye shadow. So I did a little makeup update a la Urban Decay.

First up, this eye pencil, in bourbon. I usually like to keep it simple, and this rich brown with just a hint of sparkle is perfect.

I've been hearing rave reviews about the new Naked 2 nude eye shadow pallete. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! The shadows are a great mix of nudes and browns that look great on any color eye. I somehow managed to get the last one in the Sephora by me. Oh, and it comes with a double sided eye brush. I love it.

Finally, I tried out this lipgloss pencil (!) in Lovechild. I seriously felt like a kindergartner who found her favorite crayon and was not about to let it go. I applied and reapplied about 500 times Saturday night (with my lovely friend Stacy below).

So What

It's been rainy this week in DC. Rain in January usually makes me gloomy, but not this year (maybe the 65 degree weather today helped). I'm just thinking about fun rain gear.

And for those of you who are feeling a little down right now, please look to this lovely quote to raise those spirits.  Happy Weekend.

Eternal Sunshine

I stumbled across this brand, Eternal Sunshine Creations, today and I love it. The clothes are so fun and whimsical. I love when you see the same beautiful pattern done over in so many interesting ways.

I need a distributor closer to me! Looks like a trip to NYC needs to come soon.

Jetsetter

I have a confession. I have only purchased 2 "grown up" bags in my life. By grown up, I mean something that did not come from Express or Forever 21. I cherish these two bags for every penny they are worth, but....

Since I returned from a few weeks of travel, started my job with much more travel in sight, and also ripped a big gaping hole in the corner of my workout duffel bag, I realized a new bag is in order. One that could hold a laptop, my gym shoes, and double as an easily accessible purse for travel while obviously looking professional and chic. It was a challenge to say the least.

I looked high and low and saved you all internet time of finding that perfect bag: the O.M.G. (Overnight & Medium Gym). It comes from a great little company, with a great family story, Lo and Son's. It's everything I wanted and is 20% off until January 31st (with free shipping!). I can't wait until it get's here. I promise to update you when it officially arrives and tell you what it's like in person.

Trust me guys. It's waterproof, with a crossbody strap, and even has feet on the bottom (an essential component of a bag that is horribly missing in most bags I see).

Miss me?

I've been gone for a month! Did you miss me? I've been living the life off in Australia with my three high school besties. I highly recommend it.

While Australia is in full summer swing DC is no longer 80 degrees here. I've taken some holiday gift cards (thanks!) and purchased these AMAZING fringe moccasin boots from Minnetonka. I bought them in brown suede, but I'm seriously thinking about exchanging for the black. Such a fun flat for winter. Don't knock them till you try them in real life. Beautiful.
