Spaaaaah Time!

After a full night's sleep wrapped up in my fluffy cloud like bed, I woke up early to walk around and get some breakfast with a view of the Santa Catalina mountains.

After breakfast I signed up for "floating mediation." I thought it might be in a swimming pool, but it was even better. It was meditation in aerial silks! You curl up like a little catapiller in a cocoon and emerge 50 minutes later feeling like a beautifully refreshed butterfly. Or something like that :)

After all the meditation, a girl's gotta head to the pool to banish those pasty white Chicago legs.

Before I knew it, it was time for lunch. The food at Miraval was amazing. Everything was delcious and healthy; not the easiest combo to find. I helped myself to a tuna tartare over a bed of cilantro salad.

Most afternoons I was lucky enough to spend at the Miraval spa. It over looked the mountains and was a tranquil oasis to relax and pamper yourself.

Miraval also has the only Deborah Lippmann nail salon. Doesn't that wall look like the candy aisle in the grocery store? I was in heaven.

And here are some silly pictures of me in a few treatments. The first was an AHHmazing facial with EmergenC products. My skin literally glowed for days.

This treatment was an Ayurveda oil treatment where they massage your body then drip oil on your third eye and into your hair. It made my hair unbelivanle soft for the rest of the trip.

After some tea in the main room, I'd head off to dinner at the communal tables. Everyone was so great there, I met some fascinating people. And what better way to end the day, than with some tasty treats.

What an amazing trip! I want to go back.

Arriving at Miraval

Every February the cold starts to take it's toll on me. I need an escape. There are only so many days bundled up with scarves, hats and gloves a girl can take before you've just got to get out.

I've always wanted to go to a resort spa. So this year I did my research and settled on a stunning resort in Tucson; Miraval.  Located at the base of the Santa Catalina mountains, Miraval is known for stunning views, deliciously heathy meals, and a world class spa. I couldn't wait to get there.

In the early hours of the morning, I jumped into a car and headed to the airport to escape the snow and cold.

I touched down in Arizona with 75 degree temps and clear sunny skies. Miraval had a driver waiting for me and we were off.  When I arrived a had a quick tour and settled into  my beautiful room.

The resort was stunning. I took a stroll around to admire the amenities and desert scenery.

The property was sprinkled with brightly colored cacti. Beautiful, but I kept my distance.

I also stumbled across a gorgeous outdoor yoga studio overlooking the sunrise. I could get use to this.

After my walk I browsed through the schedule of activities and classes and picked out a pretty spectacular schedule if I do say so myself. More to come soon!

House of Cards Style

Along with the rest of the country, I've been swept up by the Netflix series, House of Cards. It's a fast paced show that makes you ask, how far would you go to get what you want? I hope not as far as Frank and Claire Underwood.

Despite constant moral quandaries, Claire Underwood embodies the essence of understated elegance in every episode. She keeps her outfits simple but luxurious. Not everything is workplace appropriate, but I certainly look to her for inspiration.

In a few scenes she wears a light grey cashmere robe. It's certainly luxurious but also undeniably comfortable. I can only imagine coming home and ending the day wrapped up in a cashmere robe.

Here are a few options from around the web.
