Done and Done

It took days and days, but I've finally got my domestic flights for my Australia trip booked! Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns, here we come!

Oh, and to make booking this even more fun, Metro decided to break down tonight and make me walk home 40 minutes after class to get to my computer.

I think I deserve a nice pink lemonade Margarita sometime soon to celebrate. Recipe and image from here, but I would swap out grapefruit for pink lemonade.

Meant to Be

On a regular basis I fall head over heels for some item I see someone wearing on the streets of DC (or  in truth, anywhere). I imagine this is what love at first sight must feel like. I can't take my eyes off of them. I mentally run through every scenario of how I could possibly ask where they got that object of my desire (and wonder if it's too weird to ask). Then I go online and stalk for said item with the zest one might have of finding the facebook profile of an ex high school boyfriend (not saying I do that, but you get the point).

Anyway, a few weeks ago I spotted someone on the metro with GORGEOUS two tone flat leather riding boots. I've been searching for a pair of those boots for quite sometime but knew in that moment my search was over. Off I went to scour the internet, but to no avail. They were no where to be found.

Fast forward to this past weekend when I walk into a DSW back home, and BAM. Front row, calling my name are the EXACT boots my little heart had sought out. They only had one size left. You guessed it, just my size. Clearly it was meant to be. Don't you just love when that happens?

These pictures don't do them justice. I need better lighting.

I tried to find a link to them on the web for you all, but it's if this boots are part of the witness protection program. Nada. The closest I could find where these, but they don't have the two tone that really makes the shoe.

Good luck finding your winter boot staple!

Have a Ball

I have absolutely nowhere to wear a ball gown, or any type of gown for that matter, but lately I've been obsessed with them. They are all so beautiful and dreamy. Do you remember that scene from Sex and the City where Carrie falls asleep in her glorious gown while waiting for the Russian in Paris? I want to do that.
I think it must be all those Disney princesses I watched when I was little. Damn you, Belle.

First up, a little black swan-esque. Makes me want to reach out and touch those feathers.

Miss Leighton looking stunning.

I love every single thing about this dress. I would cover my body in sparkles if it was socially acceptable.

Mr. de la Renta sure knows how to turn heads.

And of course, this gem from McQueen. It was in an editorial (Vogue, InStyle? can't remember) a few years back, but has been permanently burned into my retinas.

Sunday Night Blues

Don't you hate Monday mornings after a long holiday weekend? I thought this clever little welcome mat was quite appropriate.

Jawbreaker

This is gorgeous. I wish I had somewhere to wear an asymmetrical pink feather gown. One day...

Hometown

I love coming home for Thanksgiving and catching up with old friends. My good friend, Lauren, has been trying to get me over to this adorable little cafe, Terrain at Styer's for years. It's owned by the same people who own Anthropologie, nestled into a garden store and greenhouse. We had a great time.

Here's me and Lauren enjoying our fancy pants teas.
I went with a Vanilla Mint au Lait. So good.

We then went in to the store to browse around for a bit. I wanted everything, but settled on two little favorites. First, is Elderflower. It's a natural soda made from, you guessed it, Elderflowers. It's beautiful and refreshing. You can drink it on it's own, or add it into a cocktail for something special.

Second, was this crisp winter scented candle appropriately named, Winter. It's minty, with the scent of pine trees and hint of sweetness. I can't wait to burn it at home.

Like It's Your Birthday

Isn't this the cutest idea? I stumbled upon it at A Beautiful Mess titled "28 Before 29." Every year on Elsie's birthday she makes a list of things to cross off her bucket list that year. No rush to do every single one, but it's amazing the things we could do in a year if we put our mind to it.

I'm turning the big 2-5 this December. I think I should give this little tradition a chance.

To sum it up, I leave this quote. So simple and so true. It really applies to any age. Don't forget it.

American Beauty

I'm not the type of girl who dreams about weddings, but when I saw this Vogue shoot for Lauren Bush (yes, daughter of George W.) and David Lauren (yes, son of Ralph) I couldn't help but admire it. Gorgeous pictures. Gorgeous people. All I have to say is, thank goodness she didn't take his last name.

Pants are Overrated

It was a sad afternoon here. I finished a load of laundry and pulled out my favorite jeans. Now we all know jeans are a little tight when the come out of the dryer. One must fidget with them for a minute to get the right stretch. This did not happen today. They just straight up ripped right up the left leg in the worn spots. I almost cried. Seriously, they are my favorite pair and Gap doesn't have them on the website anymore. I've learned my lesson. Next favorite pair of jeans, I'm buying three pairs. No if, ands or buts.

I've spend the last hour distracting myself with cute skirts,

AMAZING Blazers

and tough gloves (from Gap!) to help my cope with my loss. Hope it never happens to you. :(

Down Under

Have I told you all I'm going to Australia for New Year's Eve? No big deal. NOT. Biggest NYE ever! I'm so excited I can barely contain myself!

Check out the bio-luminescent waters. Gorgeous.

Saturday Sweats

Thanksgiving is next week! You're shocked too, right?

I always hang out with family all day, hovering between the kitchen, dinning room, and family room. Tons of pictures are taken so I like to look cute (I cringe in horror at Turkey day shots of me in my VT sweatshirt/ A&F sweatpants from my freshman year in college) but have to stay comfy. I saw these pants online at J. Crew and thing they might be that perfect mix of easy and polished.

Pair it with a cute tee, structured blazer and fun heels/flats. Then top it off with this adorable Madewell hat. Isn't it adorable? What's your go to Turkey Day outfit?

What a Stache

Mustache's are TOTALLY in right now. My dad is clearly on trend here as he's been rocking one for a good 30 years. I always tell him that if he shaves it, I'm scared he'll look completely different and I'll have some sort of identity crisis. Anyway, check out some non-identity crisis worthy ways to rock the 'stache.

Little french tip mustaches. Super fun, but I really don't know how they painted them on there.

The trendy Salvador necklace by Mr. Dannijo. An instant party hit.

Next up, gloves for when it's cold, but you still need to look cool.

And for those nights at home with friends a mustache straw or glass really sets the tone.

Aren't they so fun? Guaranteed you are going to start seeing them EVERYWHERE now.

Shop til you Drop

Great weekend all around. I picked up a few new things at the outlets that I love. Of course while I was out shopping I realized just how close Christmas is getting. I mean, Thanksgiving is next week!? I think I'm going to try and put together a gift guide or two soon, so stay tuned.

I picked this make up case up on clearance at the Saks outlet. It's got a million eye shadows, lip glosses, and blush/bronzers. Feels like getting brand new school supplies but much more fun.

I've been searching for a cool cuff, FOREVER. I finally found this one at Nordstrom on sale. I love that it's rose gold. A little bit unexpected, but looks great with a simple black outfit.

Red-y, Set, yes

Red is one of my favorite colors. I think it looks good on everyone, and is just so fun to wear. With the holidays coming up, I'm kinda craving a new red look.

Do you pick a fun holiday color? Or stick with the tried and true little black dress? While I love color, I'm definitely a disciple in the school of LBD. It never steers me wrong.
Camille Belle and Jason Wu know what's up.

How can you even create something like this? What a show stopper.

This little number just looks like plain fun. Throw on some tights and its a flowy winter look.

Just Do It

I've never been a particularly crafty person. As we already established, I never had a knack for drawing, and when it comes to tools I need a personal guide walking me through step by step. Recently, however, I've been wanting to add a little personal touch to everything. One, it's cheaper, and two, it adds such a special little touch. Do you ever attempt the Do It Yourself  projects? Or ever want to?

A little DIY glitter strip in the back of suede booties really takes it up a notch.

Ok, maybe I can't really create these mirrors (no wood working skills here), but even the wall design would be a pretty be cool project.

I cant believe how easy this looks, and how stunningly elegant it is.

Ok, these little feather lashes I'd probably have to buy, but wouldn't it be so cool to whip them up yourself?

This little DIY wrap dress number is gorgeous.

Three days of intensive academy training at work and I am ready for a little break. Wouldn't it be amazing to visit one of these places?
