Chic Rain Boots

I know I've been a little absent. Don't worry, I've been up to lots of fun here in London! I'm working on a few new posts to share soon. Promise!

One thing I needed to share today is the perfect rain boot. I have had a pair of Hunter wellies for about 4 years now. I do love them, but sometimes i want a slightly more polished rain boot to commute to work in. Now that I'm here in London, rain happens. Thankfully it's not freezing cold (I'm looking at you Chicago).

A few days ago I stumbled upon these Kate Spade's beauties. The little gold edge and black bow with gold stud on the back make these functional boots, special. I don't know about you, but when I get up in the morning and it's raining, something with a little extra 'specialness' helps make the day a little brighter.

Spring Sandals

While the cold weather rages here in Chicago, I'm dreaming of the warm Arizona sun. To help with all that daydreaming, I've been peeking at some gorgeous summer sandals while watching Sherlock on my couch. Since you might be in the need of a winter escape, I'm going to share them all.

First up is my favorite the Aerin 'Sienna' Snakeskin Sandal. The light colors and snakeskin pattern allow these sandals to be dressed up with a flirty maxi or casual cool with cutoffs and a bright tank. Unfortunately, they are a bit pricey at $238.

So I kept on searching and found some pretty close inspirations from Joe's Jeans called, the Eryn, at a more affordable $85.

I'm digging these Stuart Weitzman sandals with a toe ring.

Keeping with the toe ring, these K-Jacques sandals are very chic as well.

These Joie sandals are absolute perfection.

I think gladiator sandals have become a classic staple for any summer wardrobe.

This season has some great laser cut sandals. I found two options that are pretty similar.

Sometimes you just need a simple and inexpensive sandal to wear to the pool/beach that you won't freak out about if it gets scuff. Enter Target.

Hope these sandals brighten your snowy Sunday!

Winter is Coming

I know that winter is right around the corner for us Chicagoans. That makes me scared. I hate the cold (clearly why I moved to this city). Instead of wallowing in fear, I'm going to embrace winter or at least try.

To do that, I need some serious shoe wear. Ballet slippers are cute, but they do not keep me warm for the frigid morning commute. So I'm on the hunt for warm and stylish kicks. It's just the start of my search but I spied these Vince Camuto moto boots that have some potential. I love how the gold accents add a sleek spunk to an otherwise rough cut boot. I think these could hold up to the cold with a thick pair of cable knit socks. Fingers crossed.

Fall Favorites

There are a few fall pieces I picked up this year that have quickly become fan favorites. Not only am I smitten with them but they elicit a "where did you get that" from friends and strangers alike. So should I hoard them to myself? Nope, I'll share.

First up, these burgundy and black suede pumps with studded ankle straps from Sam Edelman. I got them at the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale and wasn't quite sure how they would stand up with my fall closet. Turns out, these bad boys go with EVERYTHING.

Next, a co-worker introduced me to a new Chicago boutique, Mulberry and Me. I wandered in one day not expecting anything special but I was wrong. I stumbled on two great fall (and beyond) staples.

When I walked in the sales girl draped this luxurious black cashmere wrap around me. I twirled around in the mirror admiring it's simplicity and elegance. Then I looked at the price tag, yikes. This is definitely an investment piece. It took me a few weeks to decide if I really wanted it and I'm so glad I did it. I've warn this on every plan trip, cold office day and windy Chicago morning.

I also spied a pair of druzy stud earrings. These are simple and fairly small, yet add just the right amount of pop to a fall ensemble. They also come in an array of colors.

Last but not least. In my continued love of all things burgundy this season, I kept my eye out for a small crossbody bag. Truth be told I was hoping to find a Celine inspired bag and the Michael Kors Bedford in Cinnabar was spot on. It fits everything without becoming a big heavy bag (I have plenty of those), and unhooks to become a clutch. It's still newer in my rotation but magically goes with everything.

As the Chicago winter starts to blow in I'm dreaming about a new winter coat and this Reiss coat is an absolute winner. I've been thinking about this investment for a while. I'm leaning toward the navy.

Preparing for Europe

I'm headed on a two week vacation to Europe mid-April. I cannot be more excited for it, but I also need to get a few things. First up, I need a comfy but stylish pair of shoes to travel in. I already posted about Tieks, but have also heard great things about Bensimon. They are basically converse sneakers for French girls. I ordered a pair of army green ones from Madewell (already sold out) that arrive tomorrow! Fingers crossed that I love them :)

Happy Feet

I don't know about you, but I am always on the hunt for the perfect pair of flats. Ones that don't tear my ankles/heels apart and can handle rough wear and tear all over the city. I've heard rave reviews about Tieks  and am very tempted to try them out.

Tieks are designed to fit in your purse so they can go with you anywhere. They are made of 100% leather, custom made in Italy and have a signature blue rubber sole padded for comfort. I appreciate that they are well made and compact because I am certainly a girl on the go. Although on the pricier end (they start at $165), when I think about how much of spent on other shoes, these puppies might just be worth the investment.

Toe Caps are so Hot Right now

Everywhere I turn this season I keep seeing adorable cap toed shoes. Heels, flats it doesn't matter, they are both joining the ranks of colored and metal capped toes. I loved them so much I even took a crack at them myself with this DIY project. If you haven't grabbed a pair for spring, do it.

I picked up these gorgeous rose gold suede ballerina flats at Zara in Chicago this weekend.

Also at Zara are these yellow metal capped heels.

And love these colorful caps I found on Pinterest.

Hot Tips

I know I've been absent of a little while!  I've been keeping busy getting up to speed on my new job (I love it!).

While I've been gone I have been noticing all the toe capped shoes out there. I'm digging them. Then I saw a DIY inspired post on a pair and a spare and I had to give the a try. They were pretty easy and I debuted them this past weekend on a NYC trip.

Supplies:
1 tube of white acrylic paint
1 tube of neon yellow acrylic paint
Masking tape
Paint brush
Black pumps

I did two layers of white paint as a base to make the color pop. The rest was easy. I'm thinking about getting a nude shoe and giving them pink or electric blue tips.

Slacking

All this warm weather is making me excited for spring. I'm thinking about cleaning out the closet next weekend to make some room for new additions. Loving the below inspirations.

I love this leather jacket and how it adds a little bit of edge to an otherwise sweet dress.

Loving this stripped skirt.

I'm defintely feeling green this year.

How chic are these coral jeans!?

Neon is everywhere this spring.

I Found Love...

...in these suede fringe anklets. I might have to try these as a DIY just because they look awesome. Created by A Pair & a Spare and how to details on Harper's Bazaar.
